Your browser, with a memory.

Memex saves everything you copy, keeps your notes and todos, and finds any of it in one search. Even a 10,000-line file comes back whole.

Free. Local-only.
No account needed.

Less digging.
More doing.

This is a live demo. Press Copy, then try the Search tab.

You copied it. Then you copied something else, and it was gone. Memex keeps the first thing too.

Four tabs.
Nothing lost.

A side panel that sits next to the page you’re on. Open it with one click or Ctrl Shift C.

Big copies stay big.

Copy a whole file and get the whole file back. No cut-off after a few thousand characters, no missing last lines. “Copy” buttons on code sites and AI chats are captured too.

  • Up to 2,000,000 characters per clip
  • Shows size and line count; expand to read it all
  • Copy returns every character, indentation included

Notes that read like documents.

Give every note a heading. Write in Markdown or use the toolbar for headings, lists, checklists and code blocks. Notes show formatted, and Copy hands you clean Markdown.

  • Right-click any selection and choose “Save to Memex Notes”
  • The page title becomes the heading, the source stays attached
  • Copy with the heading, or copy the text only

Find it. Click it. You’re there.

Search clips, notes and todos at once. Matches deep inside a long clip show up with the surrounding text. Click a result to jump straight to it, or copy it without leaving search.

  • Every result has its own Copy button
  • Jump opens the right tab and highlights the match
  • Multi-word search: every word has to match

Todos, one tap away

Add a task with a priority, tick it off, search it later. No separate app to open.

Light, dark, or yours

Follows your system theme. Narrow panel or wide window, the layout adapts.

Keyboard first

Ctrl Shift F to search, Ctrl Shift N for a new note. Rebind any of them in your browser’s shortcut settings.

Set it up once.
Then forget about it.

  1. Turn on clipboard memory

It’s off until you say so. Open the side panel and switch it on. You can pause it any time.

  2. Copy like you always do

Ctrl+C, right-click, or a site’s Copy button. Memex saves it in the background, with where it came from.

  3. Open the panel, find it

Search by any word, pin what matters, copy it again. Older copies are still there tomorrow.

servers. Your clips, notes and todos live in your browser’s local storage and nowhere else.

What it never saves

  • Anything copied in Incognito
  • Password and card fields
  • Banking, login and checkout pages
  • Private keys, JWTs and API tokens

Why it asks for permissions

  • All sites — to see what you copy on the page
  • Clipboard — to copy a saved clip back to you
  • Storage — to keep your data on this device
  • Side panel — to show Memex next to the page

You’re in control

  • Off by default, pause any time
  • No account, no sign-in, nothing to sync
  • Delete any clip, or remove the extension to erase everything

Questions,
answered.

Does Memex send my data anywhere?

No. Everything is stored with your browser’s local extension storage on your device. Memex has no account system, no analytics and no server to send anything to. Our privacy policy spells it out.

Will it save my passwords?

No. Memex skips password, one-time-code and card fields, banking and login pages, Incognito windows, and anything that looks like a private key, JWT or API token.

How big can a copy be?

Up to 2,000,000 characters per clip. In the panel a long clip shows a short preview with its size and line count, and “Show full clip” expands it. Copy always returns the complete text.

It didn’t capture something I copied.

Check that Clipboard is switched on in the side panel. Memex can’t see copies made in the address bar or on chrome:// pages. For local files, enable “Allow access to file URLs” on the extension’s details page and reload the tab.

How do I open it?

Click the Memex icon, or use Ctrl Shift C for clips, Ctrl Shift N for a new note and Ctrl Shift F for search. On Mac, use ⌘. You can change them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.

Is Memex free?

Yes. There’s nothing to pay for and nothing to sign up for.

Stop losing what you copied.

Add Memex to your browser in one click. It starts remembering when you turn it on.
